Sohee really opened up in the second part of the Q&A, sharing about her childhood friends, the books she's been into lately, her thoughts on honesty, navigating emotions and dealing with anxiety ๐ค The entire interview was amazing! It shows Sohee's deep understanding of her mind, self and how she manages her feelings. Just as we expected! She is a brilliant girl! I found it impressive how she explains everything in a way that's both relatable and encouraging ๐ฅน๐ฅฐ๐
I am sure that this interview is a treasure to Sosamo as it gives us a glimpse into Sohee's personal feelings and her thought process, helping us understand her a little better.
Also, how I wish we could all personally thank Reporter Park Se-hoi. He is doing an excellent job of connecting with Sohee, creating an atmosphere that feels like a genuine conversation between two people rather than a formal interview ๐ซก๐๐ป

๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: While watching the soundtrack #1 released last year, I had such thoughts. I wondered, 'What would it feel like to be the childhood friend of the natural person Han Sohee?' I think it would be fun if it were shot as a fake documentary.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: I also like the fake documentary format. Usually, fake documents are often used in the horror genre.
๐ฌ๐ฎ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Maybe you could try to create it in a format with interviews, like in 'The Office.' By the way, do you have any childhood friends or friends from middle or high school that you keep in touch with?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Many
๐๐.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: How do those friends see Sohee, who has become a star? If it were me, I think I would be amazed every day.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Just... see me as I am. So, that's why we can still be friends. I have friends from middle school and high school, and they are the ones who worry about me. They don't brag about knowing me somewhere, they just see me as the Sohee from back then.
๐ฌ๐ฐ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Such relationships are truly precious, aren't they?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Yes, they are.
๐ฌ๐ฑ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: It seems that the more of such relationships one has, the stronger a person becomes. I had that thought while reading Sohee's blog.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Me? I'm completely Couque d'Asse, you know? (laughs)
T/N: Sohee talked about "Couque d'Asse," a snack known for being delicate and easily breakable. In Korea, individuals who are soft-hearted and easily get hurt are humorously liked to Couque d'Asse snacks because they are as delicate as the treat.
๐ฌ๐ฒ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ : Ah... so you are like Couque d'Asse. (laughs)
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Having such friends is also because of the way I treated them. I treat them without hesitation. Whether going for drinks or hanging out, I don't hide anything. It's okay if people recognize us. Hanging out with friends is not breaking any laws, so it's nice when people recognize it. It seems like my friends also feel proud when people recognize me.
๐ฌ๐ณ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Looking at old photos of Sohee drinking with friends and being slightly tipsy, there's something... I felt the honest warmth I felt in Hwang Jung-min, Jo Seung-woo, and Ji Jin-hee's guesthouse pictures.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Ah, (laughs) that's a bit different. Those people are famous.
*Check this out if you want to know what the reporter means by the similarity of Sohee and friends with the friendship of the trio mentioned:
๐ฌ๐ด.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: (laughs) Well, that's about the genuine honesty... It was even in a previous interview title. It was a title written by a reporter, but it said, 'Han Sohee, more important than beauty is honesty.' Isn't that a crucial attitude in life?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Rather than saying it's important, isn't it more like something natural? Instead, it's about asking questions like, 'Why shouldn't I be honest?' and 'Why should I pretend?' I've concluded that I don't need to do that at all.
๐ฌ๐ต.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: In another interview, you also mentioned something like that. You said, 'It's a profession where you really have to look in the mirror a lot, but you try not to look in the mirror.' That also has a similar meaning, right?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: It means this: Our profession requires us to look in the mirror often to know which angles make our faces look pretty. It's easy to develop a habit of only showing the side of myself that I want to display when shooting dramas or movies. When filming 'My Name,' I started the habit of not looking in the mirror to avoid being constrained by angles.
๐ญ๐ฌ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: It seems to align with what we talked about earlier, the attitude of an honest life.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Exactly. In a work, I have to become the 'character'. Trying to show the pretty side of Han Sohee feels a bit off in the context of the story. Living the character's life means not focusing on what's beautiful or not for a while and blocking out all elements outside the work. Of course, it doesn't need to be like that all the time. In a photoshoot like today, showing my most attractive side aligns with the purpose of the shoot.
๐ญ๐ญ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: It seems like you also read a lot of books.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Lately, I've been intrigued by the question 'What are emotions?' The most recent book I read is 'Mourning Diary.'
After the author's mother passed away, this book compiles memories of his time with her, recorded over the course of more than a year, like a diary. Reading this book, you can deeply feel the author's emotions. Just because you lose a loved one doesn't mean a person collapses in an instant. They go on with their daily life.
Then, he receives a letter from a friend who lives across the river, saying, 'I saw your mother the day before she passed away, and she was wearing an ashy-colored outfit.' With that one sentence, he breaks down, accepting his mother's death.
While reading, I thought about the 'time to accept emotions.' The time we acknowledge feelings of sadness or depression can be frighteningly long. So, just because we say we're okay after experiencing something, it doesn't mean we'll be okay 2-3 years later. Therefore, shouldn't we always question our emotions?
๐ญ๐ฎ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: The words you just said are really cool. Examining one's own emotional state in detail is a necessary attitude for learning and it is also an attitude that is essential not just for actors, but for everyone.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: That's right. You need to practice frequently objectifying yourself, especially your emotions.
๐ญ๐ฏ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: I've heard of such things. For example, writing down how long it takes for me to open my eyes and step out of bed after waking up in the morning. When my mood is low, those times tend to be longer.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: That could work too. Like, noting how many times I made eye contact and laughed with people today, or how the day went, what kind of feelings I had, what was the atmosphere like and how many forced actions I took today.
Reflecting on these things can be a significant help in living. When you're busy, you may not even realize that your heart is getting tired.
๐ญ๐ฐ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: I was moved just now.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: The human body is surprisingly more scientific than one might think.
๐ญ๐ฑ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: That's right. When the body is physically exhausted, the mind is truly exhausted.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: It's really tough. (laughs) I can't stay up late at night.
๐ญ๐ฒ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Why is reading or watching movies important for actors?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: There is a saying, "Sadness is the saddest when holding back tears, and laughter is the funniest when holding back laughter."
However, there are people who laugh when they are sad and feel sadness when they are happy. Not all sadness is the same, and not all joy is the same. We have to express delicate sadness and subtle joy that cannot be expressed in words.
For me, reading books and watching screens is like preparing paints for painting emotions. Drawing a picture with 10 paints and drawing with 100 paints are naturally different. I really want to prepare about a thousand paints, tightly packed. (laughs)
๐ญ๐ณ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Earlier, you mentioned exploring emotions. Does that include anxiety as well?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: Why? Reporter, are you anxious?
๐ญ๐ด.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: Yes. I am anxious sometimes.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: I've been reading a very thick book called 'The Book of Disquiet' for quite a while.
There's a quote in the book that left a deep impression. It says that the emotion everyone feels for 24 hours, except when asleep, is anxiety. However, we can forget about anxiety by simply sleeping, exercising, or engaging in simple tasks.
This anxiety is like very thin paper. So, we need to diligently clear today's anxiety today and tomorrow's anxiety tomorrow so that it doesn't accumulate in our hearts anymore.
๐ญ๐ต.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: How do you clear it?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: By any chance, have you seen the documentary 'Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present' (2011)?
In it, there are scenes where she does nothing and just stays still. I consider that practice the best training for humans to get rid of anxiety. Marina Abramovic brings about 30 people to her house, almost doesn't let them eat, closes their eyes, and trains them to stay still in the forest.
What I'm doing at home these days is exactly that. Just staying still. Without thinking anything, just stay, whether it's for 5 minutes or 10 minutes.
Like you, I am vulnerable to anxiety. However, you can't live your whole life in a vulnerable state. Surely, if we understand how the human brain works, we can change its operation. So, I'm studying. I'm trying to fix myself so that I'm not vulnerable to anxiety.
๐ฎ๐ฌ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: I was moved again. The mindset of studying to improve oneself is so healthy and admirable.
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: I've made a lot of attempts to get to this point. Leaving just because I dislike something doesn't change anything. In the end, a person has to know how to stand alone.
๐ฎ๐ญ.
๐ฃ๐ฆ๐: This is the last question. What kind of actor do you want to be remembered as?
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐: An irreplaceable actor. Absolutely irreplaceable actor.
